If you have enough power on the set, you can shut down the entire show just for your wedding. That is what Kit Harrington asked of his Game of Thrones producer since he’s marrying his co-star, Rose Leslie.
“I rang him up, and I said, ‘I’m getting married, and it’s your fault, actually,’ ” Harington explained to Ross on the show. “I was like, ‘You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding, by the way.’ They [the cast] have all got to be there, so the whole thing has got to shut down.”
Given the fact that Harington met Leslie on the set in 2012, it is a fair ask. Since the cast was there to witness their love story, it’s beautiful that they want to be surrounded by their co-workers. Now, will the set shutdown actually happen? That remains to be seen, but Harington promised the TV host that it will not be a GoT-themed wedding.
Rumors about the duo tying the knot were floating around, but Harington and Rose didn’t go the modern social-media route for an engagement announcement. The couple’s engagement was confirmed last week with an old-fashioned announcement in The Times, a U.K. publication.
“The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire,” read The Times’ engagement post.
Harington eventually spilled the engagement story on The Jonathan Ross Show.
“I did have some plans to do it, I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff. But we were in the country, and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine, and I blew my load early,” Harington shared. “Sorry, that’s a really bad expression… I meant to do it the day after with the lights. What I meant to say was, I popped my question a bit early. Not blew my load.”
Well, that’s quite a story to share with his kids down the road — after the birds and the bees conversation.
