Last year Lonely Planet released the annual Best in Travel rankings, forecasting the .

Among the wanderlust-inducing spots where far-flung places like Latvia’s old pine forests and Fiji’s powder-white beaches.

But where are the hotspots for 2017? Holiday experts Travel Republic have looked into the most popular holiday searches for this year and have come up with some interesting results.

With the search terms that users were looking into online, they have developed a map of the top 20 most sought after destinations across the globe.

According to the data, Cuba came out as the most popular destination, closely followed by Greece and Mexico.

Spain, one of Brits’ favourite holiday hotspots, came in fourth place, while Thailand claimed the fifth spot.

The latest official figures from the National Statistics Institute (INE) also revealed

1. Cuba
