Coming out of the absolute left field, Lindsay Lohan has defended Harvey Weinstein on her Instagram story. Two posts, which were deleted by Lohan but saved for the record by her followers and posted to Twitter, show Lohan in a bathroom in what might be a hotel in Dubai firmly defending the Hollywood film producer who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault and alleged rape. Lohan is, at this point in time, one of the very, very few people defending Weinstein publicly.
Preserved for posterity by one eagle-eyed follower, Lohan’s defense of Weinstein is short and to the point. “I feel very bad for Harvey Weinstein right now. I don’t think it’s right what’s going on,” she told her followers in her first post.

In the second post, while the caption “Harvey” with an angel-face emoji sits at the left of the frame, Lohan continues, “I think Georgina needs to take a stand and be there for her husband. He’s never harmed me or did anything to me – we’ve done several movies together.I think everyone needs to stop – I think it’s wrong. So stand up.”
Lohan’s defense of Weinstein comes swiftly on the heels of an entire day’s worth of news wherein prominent A-list celebrities, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie, joined a chorus of women who claimed that Weinstein abused his position of power when they were young actors at the start of their career by sexually assaulting them or harassing them.
As one might expect, the reaction to Lohan’s firm defense of Weinstein has been immediately reviled online. Twitter users who have seen the now-deleted videos appear angered by Lohan’s ability to defend Weinstein. Some have pointed out that just because Lohan was fortunate enough to not be sexually assaulted by Weinstein doesn’t mean other women’s stories are invalid. Some simply cannot believe that Lohan would have the gall to defend Weinstein full stop.

Lindsay Lohan thinks it’s wrong that women have come forward about Harvey Weinstein’s sexual abuse because he’s never done anything to her and he should be left alone… wow.

Lohan is one of the very few people visibly defending Weinstein. Another famous face prominently defending Weinstein in fashion designer Donna Karan, who stated the women Weinstein harassed might have been “asking for it” with their clothing or actions. Karan’s comments were met with disdain online and rejected as victim-shaming tactics; Lohan’s defense of Weinstein is being met with a similar level of disgust. It is not difficult to imagine that Lohan’s defense of Weinstein will not be forgotten anytime soon.
